At the session, representatives of the alumni clubs that gather former students of the University of Montenegro from all its organizational units decided that Srdan Kosovic, former student of the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Montenegro and current Director of Online Development of the Vijesti, will be the head of the umbrella Alumni organization.
"Signing the Memorandum marks a significant step in strengthening our connection with our alumni," said Rector Bozovic. "This collaboration will enhance the educational and scientific activities of our university, contribute to innovations, and support the career development of our students."
The goal, as stated at the meeting by the University of Montenegro’s Vice-Rector for Internationalization, prof. Sanja Pekovic, PhD, is to establish mechanisms for continuous cooperation in the development and enhancement of educational, research, and professional activities.
The Alumni Coordinator at the University of Montenegro, Filip Petrovic, MSc, presented to the participants of the Constitutive Alumni Session the first Alumni Strategy 2024-2029, as well as the newly launched interactive online platform for the University of Montenegro alumni community. This platform includes a database and a registration system for alumni. He also highlighted other activities being carried out under the Erasmus+ project All4Life (Western Balkan Entrepreneurial University Alliances – Keeping in Touch for Lifelong Relations).
The focus of the Memorandum of Cooperation with alumni is on the development of innovations, technology transfer, boosting competitiveness, and fostering entrepreneurship in Montenegro. The primary goal is to strengthen connections and collaborative efforts through support for students' career development, improving employment conditions for young professionals, and enhancing the relationship between the University of Montenegro and the business sector.
Collaboration will focus on the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and resources between the University of Montenegro and the Alumni Association of the University of Montenegro, the organization of joint professional training sessions, workshops, lectures, and round tables, as well as the implementation of joint projects and the promotion of innovative and entrepreneurial activities.
Additionally, mechanisms for supporting student career development and mentorship programs will be established through the collaboration of the academic community and the business sector. The goal is to introduce innovations, address societal challenges, strengthen socio-economic opportunities, achieve sustainable development, and enhance the internationalization and positioning of the University of Montenegro in society.
The University of Montenegro will continuously involve alumni in educational, scientific research, professional, and social activities, develop models of cooperation with the business sector for practical training, and establish a Platform for cooperation and data management of the alumni community. The Alumni Association, on the other hand, will be an additional driving force for the development of the University and will provide support in improving curricula, organizing joint events and projects, and securing financial resources for the development of science and innovation transfers.
